Experience
I am currently a student at Northumbria University studying Games Design and Production, I have
experience in focus and beta testing both from home and onsite in a studio environment. I also have
game development experience using the Unity engine and c# programming language from my
personal projects.
I regularly attend industry events in order to meet new contacts, keep up with industry news and
receive game development advice from people in the industry. Most recently I have attended Game
Horizon 2014 and the VRTGO 2014 - VR conference.
I have also taken part in a game jam hosted by Eutechnyx which resulted in my work winning a
runner up prize. The same Game Jam was held early 2015 and I entered as part of a group of 3,
together we created a platform puzzle game using the Unity engine and collaborated extremely well
in order to implement our designs (The winners have not yet been announced).
Education
Northumbria University (2013 Present) Games Design & Production BSc (Hons)
I am currently working through my second year on the Games Design & Production course at
Northumbria. During the first year, I was a student rep and played a part in improving the
course through a series of meetings with the course leader and members of teaching staff.
This resulted in an improved set of modules for future and present students. I achieved an
overall first for my first year of study and I am currently on track to obtaining a first for my
second year of study.
Year 1 Modules
Communication for Games Designers
Web Technologies
Multi-Media Programming
Ludological Studies
Computer Games Design
Digital Visual Communication

Year 2 Modules
Designing Game Mechanics
3D modelling & Animation
Project Management
New Media Marketing
Interactive Story & Sound Design
Game Interface & Scripting

Gateshead College (2008 2010) Level 3 Multimedia Design

This course offered in depth training into a variety of software packages and traditional
media. The key skills I gained on this course were animation (both traditional & digital),
photography, programming, games design and graphic design. I achieved a treble distinction
for this course and even had the opportunity to do some freelance graphic design work for a
local magazine company.

Employment
Beamish Wild Outdoor Instructor (2010 - Present)
My main area of duty is working on the high ropes course where I am responsible for
delivering clear safety briefs, performing rescues, giving first aid when needed and working
safely and efficiently at height.
During my time at Beamish Wild I have gained excellent communication skills as this is an
important aspect of the job and is required to make sure the day runs smoothly and that all
safety issues are communicated to the entire team.
I am also responsible in helping to train new members of staff, carrying out safety checks
and repair/maintenance on the high ropes course.
Hobbies & Interests
I currently have a personal mobile game project which I hope to release on the Amazon app store
once complete. All of the skills which went into creating my game have been self-taught and I have
learned a lot about the process and work behind developing and designing games for mobile
platforms.
I am also a very active person with a lot of interests in many subjects, my main hobby outside of
game development is climbing. I regularly go indoor bouldering and go outdoor climbing with friends
whenever I get the chance, I love the adrenaline and challenge which comes from setting up my own
ropes and climbing natural cliff faces.
I like to keep myself fit and active and regularly go to the gym. I recently completed my first solo
skydive after attending a 2 day training course and was immediately hooked, although its an
expensive hobby Id still like to go back whenever I get the chance.
Overall, I have a very inquisitive personality and I regularly set myself new challenges and jump at
the chance to learn new skills whenever I can.
