FDM Mapping Mass Update

The document describes a frustrating issue when adding multiple mapping entries at once in a grid, which would result in an error and loss of work. It notes that frequently hitting update after a few entries is better but still painful. It then introduces that there is now a way to do mass updates of metadata mappings by exporting the mapping file to Excel, inserting rows for new entries within the range, deleting the data keys, and reimporting the file.

It is quite frustrated when you add several mapping entries all at once, and click Update

Grid. Instead of giving you successful grid update confirmation, it throws you an error
message, and all your hard working are lost in a second. After encountered for several times,
now I frequently hit the Update Grid button every time I make two or three entries. Better,
but still quite pain. It is extremely painful when you many mapping entries to make.
Now, there is a way to do mass update of meta data mappings.
- First you would need export the mapping file into excel.

- Open the exported excel file, and insert rows, so to ensure all newly added rows fall inside
the range

- Delete all data in the DataKey, as those will be regenerated when imported back
- Delete all and import the mapping file back
