Ithinkthatthesessionobjectiveswereclearlyunderstood.Thegirls
seemedtounderstandwhytheywereingroup,andbytheendwantedtobethereto
discussallthatisgoingonwiththeirrelationships.Theyallunderstoodconfidentiality.
Theywereallabletogoovertherulesandinitialthattheyunderstoodtherulesofthe
group.Eventhoughthegirlswerenervoustheydidagoodjobansweringthequestions
anddiscussingthetopicathand.

B.ReflectionofSessionContent:

Thequestionsthatwereaskedtoreflectthesessioncontentwentwell.
Thequestionsweregoodforeveryonetothinkaboutandtalkaboutamongstthegroup.
Thesequestionswereagoodstartingpointforthegirlstotalkaboutforthefirstsession

andmanymoretocome.Thecontentofthegroupwillbecoveredfor8weeksgoing
overrelationalaggressionandhealthyfriendshipsamonggirls.Thegirlsdidagoodjob
answeringthequestions,followingtherules,andrespectingeachother.

C.ReflectionofSessionIntroduction:

Ithinkthattheintroductionwentsmooth.Iwasthankfulthatitwasall
plannedoutaheadoftime.MaybeanIcebreakerwouldhavebeenbeneficialforthe
beginning.Goingovertherulesandconfidentialitywentwell.Therewerenomajor
complicationsstartingout.

D.ReflectionofCounselor/ClientInteraction:

Ithinkthecounselorclientinteractionwasgreat.Theonlythingwasthat
wewerebothsonervous.IasthecounselorwasnervousandthatissomethingIwant
toworkon.Mynervousnessmayhavecarriedoverandmadetheclientsthatmuch
morenervous.IthinkthatIremainedprofessionalyetpersonalfortheclientstofeelat
ease.Ishowedempathy,understanding,andreflectedwhattheclientsweresaying.
Overall,ourinteractionwassmoothandthegroupwasabletoopenupanddiscusswith
thegroup.

E.ReflectionofSessionWrapUp:

Theendofthesessionwentwell.Ithinkthatallowingeveryonetofinish
theirthoughtsandsummarizingmadeabigdifference.Itwasalsohelpfultousethe
DeclarationtoMyselfnotecardstopassoutandreflectonpositiveaffirmationsto
ourselves.Itwasalsobeneficialtomakesuretherewerenomorequestionsor
concernssothatnooneleftfeelingunsureoruneasyaboutgroup.Bytheend,Ithink
thegroupwascomfortablewitheachotherandthatthenexttimewemeetitwouldbe
easierandmoreinteraction.

F.ReflectionofTheoreticalBasisandTechniques:

Uponreflectingonthetheoreticalbaseandtechniquesused,IthinkthatI
hadasolutionfocusedmindset,butthatitwasnotexactlyusedinfullforceforthe
group.SinceIusedanactivitybooktoguidemygroup,Ididnotexactlyfocustoomuch
onthetheoreticalbase.IthinkwithfurtherdiscussionsandactivitiesIwouldwantto
implementamoreSolutionFocusedapproachtohelpthegirlsandtheirrelationships
witheachotherandtheirrelationshipwiththemselves.

G.ReflectionofCounselorStrengthsinSession:

Ithinkthatsomeofmystrengthsinthegroupsessionweremyuseof
bodylanguage,allowingsilence,summarizing,andreflecting.WhileIwasnotperfectin
theseareasIthinkthatIstilldidagoodjobincorporatingthemandusingthem
effectivelyinthecounselingsession.Anotherstrengthinthesessionwasmyplanning
andorganization.Ithinkwithagroupitisimportanttobepreparedandreadyfor
anythingsotohaveseveralplansinplacemakesabigdifference.Inmycaseithelped
menotforgetanything,stayontrack,andfeelatease.Anotherstrengthwashowgood
itfelttobedoingthegroupcounselingsession.EventhoughIwasnervousitwas
thrillingandIfeltlikeIwasmakingapositivedifference.

H.ReflectionofCounselorAreasforImprovementinSession:

Inreflectingontheareasofimprovementforthecounselingsessionfirstit
wouldbetonotbesosoftspoken.Second,wouldbetorealizethatwhileIamnervous
Ihavetorememberandrecognizethatthestudentsinthegrouparemuchmore
nervous!Thiswasabigrevelationforme.Ialsorealizedthatitwasnotnecessaryand
probablydetrimentaltodefineandgooverrelationalaggressionatthebeginningof
group.Finally,IthinkIjustneedalotmorepracticetolearnnewskills,perfectold
skills,andlearnhowtorunasmoothgroupthebestIcan.
