1st Grade Standard:

Reading Foundational Skills Standard 4. Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support
comprehension.
B. Read grade level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression.
Directions:
1. Choose a book that is grade appropriate and that you feel with practice you can read
fluently.
2. Have the teacher approve of your book choice. She can help you if you are not sure what
book to choose.
3. Practice reading the book multiple times. Work on any words that you have to sound out
or struggle to read.
4. When you feel ready, read the book to 3 different people and have them sign you off.
5. Once you have been signed off by 3 people, read the book one more time while you
record yourself. Make sure that you read the story fluently and use your expressions.
