Classroom Rules
-

Respect for all in all cases


o Students and the instructor will have an open mind and ears to the interests,
opinions, and needs of everyone in class

Professionalism is expected everyday


o The instructors job is to prepare students for the next level of academics and
the workforce
o The JOB of being a student should be respected and taken seriously
o Students should conduct themselves in the classroom as if it were their job
(since it is)

Always come prepared


o Students should come to class with all the necessary materials to successfully
perform the job of a student (pencil, notebook, book, ect.)
o Students should also be mentally prepared to learn, listen, and discuss

Work hard and to the best of your abilities


o Students will be expected to do their best and not simply do the minimum
o Failure is not an option

Have fun!
o School is an opportunity to grow intellectually and form who you are as
person, embrace that opportunity with excitement and eagerness

School policy will be followed in any and all other cases

Discipline Hierarchy
Offense #1: The instructor will nonverbally look at student sternly in order to stop
behavior
Offense #2: The instructor will use proximity control and stand next to student and
once again give a stern look (if student is talking the teacher might also give the
quiet signal, the hand or finger over the mouth)
Offense #3: The instructor will begin instruction but will stop talking when a student
is talking and wait for student to stop behavior (maximum of three seconds)
Offense #4: The instructor will call on the student who is talking or acting
inappropriately and politely ask them to stop the behavior
Offense #5: The instructor will remind the student that they have been asked to
stop and give a warning that the next offense will result in the student being moved
Offense #6: The instructor will ask the student to move to a different desk
Offense #7: The instructor will ask the student to go to the hallway; the instructor
will then inform the student that the next offense will result in a detention
Offense #8: The instructor will go up to the student and quietly inform him or her
that they have received a detention and the next offense will result in the instructor
calling the students parents and the student being sent to the principals office
Offense #9: The instructor will send the student to the office and inform his/her
parents about the students behavior
