Water Is Our First Source of Health

Water is essential for human life. The human body is made up of over 70% water and needs 2-7 liters of water daily to function properly. Without water, humans can only survive for 3 days at most. Water plays a vital role in many bodily processes like digestion, waste removal, temperature regulation, and more. It is the main component of blood, muscles, brain tissue and other organs. Dehydration occurs when the body does not get enough water and can cause issues like thirst, dry skin and fatigue. Overall, water is indispensable for sustaining life.

Water is our first source of health!

Water is indispensable to the human body.

Like the air, drinkable water is vital for the human being.
On average a human drinks 2 litres of water every day.
Without water, humans cannot survive for more than a few days.
Water is an excellent solvent for many substances and it is the element into which many chemical
reactions related to the substances metabolism and life take place. The role of the water in the
human body is extremely important.
Many people wonder why they feel thirsty. Thirst is the signal for the lack of water in the body. The
cells in different tissues lead the signal to the brain, producing the feeling of thirst. The others
announce the brain about the lack of water. In the brain, the information is turned into the feeling of
thirst which forces us to drink water.
How long can a living being live without water? This varies a lot from one species to the other.
Some species, such as moths or snakes live for a long time without water. So do camels which are
resistant to dehydration, but most animals cannot live for a long time without water. People lost in
the desert without water cannot live longer than 3 days.
Thus life becomes tightly related to water!
All known forms of life depend on water. Water is vital for most of the processes taking place inside
the body. Significant quantities of water are used for digesting food. Almost 72% of the human
body weight (without fats) is made up of water. In order to work well the body needs between two
and seven litres of water every day so as to avoid dehydration and the exact amount depends on the
level of activity, temperature, humidity and other factors.
Dehydration
Dehydration is a consequence of some ailments or imbalances in the body, caused by defficient
hydration, long exposure to the sun or excessive perspiration. Dehydration manifests itself through
acute thirst, mouth and lips feel dry, toneless aspect of the skin, feeling dizzy and weak and, in
severe cases, headaches.
Water is essential for the good functioning of the body because:
-It is in the composition of all the organs and it helps them to do their work. Blood contains 90%
water, muscles 75%, brain 83%, lungs 86%, kidneys 83%, eyes 95%, and bones 22%. Kidneys need

water to filter blood, the digestive system needs water for digestion, skin needs water to be smooth
and healthy, bones need water to keep their flexibility and strength
-it helps to discharge metabolic waste through kidneys, which is impossible without water
-it takes part in forming cells and body growth
-it helps to control the body temperature, maintaining it constant. When the body is overheated (in
summer or by fever), it eliminates the heat through perspiration, and in winter when the body
suffers from cold, it adapts to keep the blood warm around the vital organs, making capillaries to
contract so as to prevent water loss.
In conclusion:
We would not exist without water. The statement seems extremely assertive but it is the truth.
Life appeared in the water, it developed in the water and it is preserved by water.
