DSTV Tuning Instructions

This document provides instructions for tuning a DSTV decoder to receive free-to-air Spirit Word television channels without a DSTV subscription. The instructions guide the user to change the network settings to "Other" and input frequency, symbol rate, FEC, and polarization values for two different channels to access the Spirit Word and other religious channels. After scanning all networks, the user can find the Spirit Word channel by selecting the Public IS7 bouquet and looking for the SWC channel.

DSTV Decoder Tuning Instructions

*Spirit Word is FREE on DSTV Decoders - NO DSTV contract required!


These instructions can be used with most DSTV decoder models excluding HD PVR models.
HD PVR Models have a software limitation and cannot be tuned to receive any FREE-TO-AIR Channels.

1.

Go to [Menu] -> [Advanced Options] -> [Dish Installation (Pin = 9949)]

2.

Change [Network 2] to [Other] and press [OK]


Enter the following settings:
Frequency:
12602
Symbol Rate: 26657
FEC:
2/3
Polarization: Vertical
Use NIT:
Yes

Available channels on this frequency group:

Select [Accept all displayed values and leave screen] and press [OK]

4.

Change [Network 3] to [Other] and press [OK]


Enter the following settings:

Polarization: Vertical
Use NIT:

Select [Accept all displayed values and leave screen] and press [OK]

Now select [Scan all networks] and press [OK]

After the scan has completed, press the [TV] button on your remote and select [Public IS7] and press [OK]
Look for a channel named SWC.
To return to normal DSTV Bouquet (Multi-choice Channels) after viewing Spirit Word, simply press the [TV] button on
your remote and select [DSTV]...
IMPORTANT: If you are not receiving SWC (Spirit Word) after following the above steps, repeat the above steps
again but select the network option [DSTV W4] in step 2 and 4 instead of [Other].
