This document proposes using the Giggle Poetry website to allow 1st grade students to publish their own poetry. Students would read poetry from other students on the site, explore different poetry types and categories. They could also read tongue twisters. Students would have the opportunity to create and publish their own original poetry for others to read. Technologies needed include computers or iPads for each student to access the site individually or as a class using a SmartBoard. The project involves collaboration, student-centered learning as students create and publish original work, and higher-order thinking as students choose topics and craft their own poetry. Student privacy and internet safety policies would be followed.
