EDE CONTEST 2014 THEMES/SUBTHEMES

Note: The themes and subthemes given below are only a sample
list. The Presenter is free to add/delete any subtheme as
required.
1. BASIC ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND LIGHTING FIXTURES:
Resistors, Capacitors, Inductors, Wiring (Domestic/Industrial),
Soldering iron, Breadboards, CFL, LEDs, Fluorescents lamps,
Incandescent lamps, Sodium vapour lamps, Neon gas lights etc.
2. DOMESTIC ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS AND EARTHING:
Domestic Household appliances/equipments, Daily electronic gadgets
(TV parts, remotes, regulators etc.), Fuses, MCBs, Solar cooker,
Protection devices, Energy meters, Different types of earthing (plate
type, pipe type) etc.
3. ELECTRONIC & ELECTRICAL MEASURING INSTRUMENTS:
Ammeters, voltmeters, CRO, Oscilloscope, Watt meters, Multimeters,
Lumen meters, Power analysers, Logic analyser etc.
4. SENSORS, TRANSDUCERS, RELAYS AND CONTACTORS:
Primary and secondary transducers, Sensors (temperature, pressure,
level, IR, torque etc.), Medical instrumentation, Relays and Contactors
of various types.
5. SWITCHES AND STARTERS: Toggle, Pushbuttons, Piano,
SPDT/DPDT switches, IGBTs, Diodes, Transistors, Thyristors and
other Controlled and uncontrolled switches, Starters (DOL/RDOL/Y-D
etc.), Soft Starters etc.
6. BASIC ICs AND PROCESSORS: Logic Gates, OPAMPS, 555 timers,
Arduino boards, Raspberry Pi, microprocessors 8085, 8086,
Microcontrollers 89C51, 89C52, Automation devices, Voltage
regulators etc.
7. MACHINE

Motors
(synchronous,
induction, stepper, d c motors, servomotors etc.), Transformers, CTs,
PTs, dynamo etc.
8. CABLES, JOINTERS & INSULATORS: 2-Core, 3-core and industrial
Power Cables, Fibre optic cables, communication cables etc. Pin, Post
and String Insulators, Safety Devices (Hand Globes, Shoes and
Rubber Mats etc.)
9. THERMODYNAMIC DEVICES: IC engines, Refrigeration, Air
conditioning Compressors, Non conventional Thermodynamic
Devices, Other Thermodynamic devices.

MECHANISMS: Various mechanisms used in engines, Power
transmission (gears), Automobile devices, Governors etc.

CIVIL ENGINEERING TOOLS: Compass (various types),
Dumpy level, Chains (metric, gunters, engineers chain, revenue chain
etc.), GPS systems, Theodolite, UTM (Universal Testing Machine) etc.

COMPUTER HARDWARE, ELECTRONIC GADGETS AND
STORAGE DEVICES: Various Hardware for Computers (RAM/ROM,
Mother board, USB etc.), Routers, Mobile technologies and related
gadgets, Networking topologies, LAN & WAN Networks, Ethernet
etc., CD/DVD/Hard Disk/SSDs/Pen Drives/Flash Drives, Cloud based
storage etc.
