Peer-Feedback Sem 2

Chelsea Braga is an eager learner who is willing to participate in new procedures and completes required research before administering medications. She manages her workload effectively and communicates well with patients, staff, and peers. While Chelsea responds positively to feedback and gives constructive feedback, the peer feedback suggests she could develop further in the areas of using evidence-based practice to guide patient care, becoming a nursing leader through initiative, and improving critical thinking skills through additional research on patient issues. The peer feedback was provided by Ashley Luu and dated April 12, 2014.

PEER FEEDBACK RE: CLINICAL PERFORMANCE

NAMEOF STUDENT RECEIVING PEER FEEDBACK: Chelsea Braga

I think you are doing a great job at:
1. Chelsea is an eager learner. She is willing to participate in new procedures as they appear on
the unit such as wound care and catheterizations. She completes the required research about
medications for her patients before administrating them and is not afraid to ask questions.
2. Chelsea manages her time and work load effectively. By the end of the clinical placement she
was able to have two patients washed, dressed and ready for the day and breakfast. Her
documentation was always done, her breaks were taken and Chelsea left placement on time.
3. Chelsea communicates well with patients, the nursing staff, her preceptor and the rest of her
clinical peers. She has developed a positive relationship with everybody, making her a pleasant
person to work with. With the patients Chelsea is able to form therapeutic relationships while
keeping her professionalism, especially with patients who step on lines of personal privacy.
Professionally, Chelsea responds positively to feedback and she is also able to give constructive
feedback to her peers such as during post-conference meetings.
I think you could develop further in the following areas:
1. Chelsea should continue to identify and use evidence based practice to guide her care for her
patients. As developing nurses it is important to be aware of our actions and be confident that
what we do is right for the patient and is the best for them. In a clinical placement setting this
could mean questioning practices done, clarifying with another nurse, conducting your own
research on best practices, or reflecting on your own actions.
2. Chelsea can continue to become a nursing leader. She is always open to lending a hand to
complete tasks together and sometimes takes a leadership role when sharing nursing knowledge
and guiding her other peers, however it is always good to work on leadership skills such as
initiative.
3. Chelsea can also improve on her skill of critical thinking. As we nursing students gain more
knowledge and experience we will be able to exercise this skill more easily. However everyone
can improve and learn further by researching more about a patients issue and thinking of the
multiple ways it can effect a person and their needs.
