Assignment/Activity Title
Info Flow Show Open
YearFreshman Skill Media/Communication Portfolio Category Media/ Communication I really enjoyed the Info Flow Show Open project that was assigned by Mr. Bustillos because of the creative freedom and the fact that the whole school would view our video. The project was to make a short intro video to the schools announcements. Any school appropriate theme or topic was acceptable in this project, which allowed creativity. This project was also a group project which allowed my group members and I to share our ideas, and then elaborate on one, depending on our own creative interests. This helped me improve my social skills within the group in order to implement my ideas into the final video. Using Final Cut Pro in the past, understanding all of the basic cuts and transitions was highly helpful to my group. In one of the scenes we used the green screen. Not knowing how to add footage to the background of the video, Mr. Bustillos teached us, resulting in our show open to be more sophisticated and visually pleasing. This greatly strengthened my basic knowledge of Final Cut Pro. With this new knowledge I learned, I could apply it to other projects that involve green screen technology, and also help anyone else who is struggling with the technological aspect of how the green screen works when editing. This project helped me recognize the creative concepts that I wanted to share with others, and implement them into the video. Through the processes that helped my group achieve the final show opening, I gained knowledge of basic editing skills that I can put forth to future editing projects, and working with others under the circumstances of a project that prides itself on creativity as well as structure. Through this project I also gained knowledge on different camera angles and shots that I implemented into the b-roll of this video. I feel as a project overall, this project was extremely effective in exercising creativity as well as teaching basic editing structure and group collaboration.
