Lighting is one job where you have to combine the visions of multiple people. The
director may have this grand vision of how the stage should look, along with the set designer and
the choreographer too. Your job as a lighting designer, you must be able to put these visions
together in an aesthetically pleasing format. After the design is created on paper, you may have to
rehang or adjust the focus on a fixture so the lights can accommodate the design format. After
rehang then its rehearsals and finally show time. This article is relevant to my topic because it
overviews the information needed to be a lighting technician.

Audio technicians have the most hands on job. They must be able to portray the
directors wishes on possible sound designs used in a production. A technician must be able to
ensure what sound is being micd is being heard crisp and clearly by the audience. If the
audience can not hear or understand the words then there is no show. A technician must also be
able to mix monitors for whomever is on stage. The technology can be analog or digital, and
monitors may be on stage or in-ear; either way you will need to know it. This article is relevant
because it checklists the information needed to be a sound technician.
