Classroom
Expectations 1.
Leave your bags at the door.
Always come to the music room with an open mind and a light heart. If you are having a bad day or are not getting along with someone, let the music re-set you, distract you, or heal you. Immerse yourself!
2.
Focus Listen to directions the FIRST time.
The faster you listen, the faster we get things accomplished the faster we get to real music making!
3.
Fall to total silence when your director
steps on the podium. This is what professional musicians do, so you should, too! When the director steps on the podium, that means that rehearsal has officially started and important instructions will be given.
4.
Respect all people and objects in the room.
Do not play anyones instrument besides your own. Do not throw or step on anything. Do not yell at someone or make mean comments to or about them. Do not exclude anybody. Just do the right thing.
5.
Make a beautiful sound on your instrument
at all times. Do not purposefully squeak or overblow notes. Always make sure your instrument is taken care of and that you have a good reed if you are a reed player. Always take a good breath before you play and watch the conductor. Listen up to your section leader to match their tone.
Consequences
For unacceptable actions
1. Verbal warning 2. Grade deduction 3. Sent out of class/call home 4. Office referral 5. Severe disruptions sent to office immediately
Note: if poor behavior occurs when there is a
substitute teacher or while on a band field trip, consequences will be more severe.
