Bill is a student who contributes insightful comments during class discussions, but has been distracting other students by talking over the teacher and other students while class is in session. The teacher has spoken to Bill, who understands but continues the behavior. The teacher does not want to kick Bill out of class because he understands the material, but is asking Bill's parent or guardian to discuss the issue to try and change this behavior, as it is distracting others from learning. The teacher provided contact information and availability to discuss further.

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Bill is a pleasure to have in class and always contributes with very insightful
comments when the class is in a discussion based format. With that being
said, I have noticed that Bill has been talking to others around me while Im
teaching and it distracts others in the class that are trying to learn.
I have pulled Bill aside and discussed this issue with him outside of class and
he says he understands although he continues to talk over me and other
students. I dont want to kick him out of class because he does understand
the material and I feel he will fall behind in class.
Please discuss this with Bill. I am sure that we can bring about a change if we
work together. If you have any questions, please call me at 480-555-555, Im
available on my lunch break from 12:00-12:45 and Im available after school
5:00-10:00. You can also email me at [email protected]
Thank You
