Lesson Learn Concrete Superflat

Superflat concrete floors have overall flatness (FF) and levelness (FL) numbers of 60/40 or higher according to ASTM standards, providing increased warehouse efficiency by allowing forklifts and stock to operate at maximum speed and height safely. Measuring tools like floor dipsticks can test floor flatness and produce reports on FF/FL numbers to ensure safety and reduce costs from equipment damage or downtime while also creating a better working environment.

WHY SUPERFLAT CONCRETE FLOOR

The requirement of superflat concrete floor can be refer to ACI and ASTM Standards :
Type of Floor
Conventional
Moderately Flat
Flat
Very Flat
Super Flat

Overall FF/FL Numbers

20/15
25/20
35/25
45/35
60/40

The tools to measure the floor flatness is by using Floor Dipstick. It can measure the
flatness of the floor and producing reports with overall and minimum FF/FL numbers, in
accordance to ASTM-1155.
Why Floor Flatness is Important ?
a) To increase warehouse efficiency by allowing the material handling equipment, like
folklift, to operate at full speed safely;
b) To increase the warehouse storage efficiency by allowing stock stacking at maximum
height;
c) To ensure good safety in the warehouse ! Trucks can hit the racking if floor is not flat;
driver can get fatigue easily on uneven floor due to excessive vibration;
d) To production costs by reducing damages to goods due to falling off from material
handling equipment;
e) To reduce maintenance costs to the material handling equipment and lower downtime for
repair;
f) To provide a good, conducive and aesthetical working environment.
