Lldpe / Hdpe Pneumatic Conveying System

The document describes the LLDPE/HDPE pneumatic conveying system which consists of three pellet conveying lines (Lines A, B1/B2, and C1/C2) and two sets of pellet bins. Line A conveys pellets from the pelletizing system to the blending bins. Lines B1/B2 recirculate pellets between bins for blending and can add off-specification pellets to aim-grade pellets. Lines C1/C2 convey pellets from the blending bins to one of two bagging bins for packaging. The system also includes a bin purge air system and bin wash water system to clean and dry the bins.

LLDPE / HDPE PNEUMATIC

CONVEYING SYSTEM
OVERVIEW

The Resin Handling System begins at the outlet of the

Pellet Screener (XX-722) in Part 7 of the PE Process Unit
and ends with feed to the Packaging System. The Resin
Handling System consists of three (3) pellet conveying
lines and 2(two) series of pellet bins. The pellet
conveying lines are designed for the following
capacities.

The following is a general description for the Resin

Handling System

Line A
This line is provided for pellet conveying from the Pellet Screener
(Part 7) to the bin area and is operated continuously.
Pellets are continuously fed from the Pelleting System (Part 7) to
this conveying line by Rotary Feeder (XX-803) from Pellet Surge
Hopper (TH-802) and conveyed to either the Off-Grade Bin (TB812A) or one of the Blending Storage Bins (TB-812B through TB812F).
The Off-Grade Bin is provided for storing off-specification pellets
which may be produced during product transitions. The Blending
Storage Bins are provided for temporarily storing Aim-Grade
pellets.
The conveying air is supplied by one of the Pellet Conveying
Blowers (KA-801A or KA-801B). Normally Pellet Conveying Blower
KA-801A is used for this operation and Pellet Conveying Blower
KA-801B is on stand-by. An aftercooler (EE-804A and EE-804B)
and In-line Filter (GN-805A and GN-805B) are provided for each
blower before the pick-up point.

Line B1/B2
These lines are provided for pellet blending and transfer to other
bins and is intermittently operated.
The pellets stored in the Blending Storage Bins or the Off-Grade
Bin are fed to this conveying line by Rotary Feeder (XX-813A
through XX-813F) and conveyed to the same bin as an external
recirculation system for blending or to another bin.
Theses lines also have the capability to "trim" off-specification
pellets in with Aim-Grade pellets during the conveying operation.
The off-grade pellets are trimmed into the Aim-Grade pellets at
low rate.
Dedicated Rotary Feeders (XX-814A or XX-814B) are
provided on a branch gravity line from the Off-Grade Bin (TB812A) and the Blending Storage Bin (TB-812D) and are used for
this trimming operation. The trim (mixing) rate can be adjusted
based on the product quality after mixing.
The conveying air is supplied by the Blending Blower (KA-811A).
A spare Blending Blower (KA-811B) is provided. An aftercooler
(EE-815A and EE-815B) and In-line Filter (GN-816Aand GN-816B)
are provided for each blower before the pick-up point.

LineC1/C2
Two (2) lines are provided for pellet conveying from the pellet Blending
Bins to the Packaging Systems. These lines are intermittently operated
when the Packaging System is operating.
The pellets stored in the Blending Storage Bins or Off-Grade Bin are fed
to this conveying line by Rotary Feeder (XX-813A through XX-813F) and
conveyed to any one of the Bagging Bin (TB-852A or TB-852B) though
Elutriator (XX-855A orXX-855B).
The conveying air is supplied by the Bagging Blower (KA-841A) for Line
C1 and by the Bagging Blower (KA-841B) for Line C2. A common spare
Bagging Blower (KA-841C) is provided as stand-by. An aftercooler (EE842A, EE-842B, EE-842C) and In-line Filter (GN-843A, GN-843B, GN843C) are provided for each blower before the first pick-up point.
The Elutriator (XX-855A, XX-855B) is provided with a Blower {KA-851A,
KA-851B) to separate fines and streamers from the pellets. The fines
and streamers removed from the pellets are collected by Elutriator
Exhaust Filter (GN-856A, GN-856B) and discharged to a container
through Rotary Feeder (XX-854A, XX-854B). The Elutriation System is
included in the scope of the conveying system vendor.
Line C1 and Line C2 will not be used to convey pellets simultaneously to
the same Bagging Bin.

Bin Purge Air System

A positive displacement Bin Purge Blower (KA-833) is
furnished to provide air to Off-Grade Bin and all
Blending Storage Bins to assure that any residual
hydrocarbons do not accumulate.

Bin Wash Water Spool

A Wash Water System is provided to supply wash
water to Off-Grade Bin and all Blending Storage Bins.
Air for drying the bins can be provided by the Purge
Air System.
