Given the names of Civil War battles and a blank chart, the student will research on the Internet for the date, location,
outcome, and 2 media sources of each battle and fill in the blank chart with 100% accuracy.
Given a computer and a flash drive, the student will demonstrate their knowledge of media research and retrieval with
100% accuracy.
Given a computer and a student handout, the student will create an online interactive timeline of the Civil War battles
given with 100% accuracy.

Run, Fort Henry and Donelson, Shiloh, Antietam, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Chickamauga, Franklin, Nashville,

Have a discussion about The Civil War to find out what the learners already know.
Provide some basic information about The Civil War and life in The United States in 1860.
The learners will begin their research in order to complete the handout given as well as the online interactive timeline.
The following four days will be spent completing research, storing media, completing the table, and completing the online
interactive timeline.
Procedures
Day 1- 60 minutes
Teacher Procedure
1. After introduction to The Civil
War,
begin a class discussion
about what life was like right
before the war and during the
war. Find out what the class
already knows about the Civil
War.
2. Begin review of the student
handout, which provides the
basic

directions for the project.

retrieved media source sites.
