Abortion: Pro-Life
Those of you that have children, could life be imaginable with out them?
Imagine never getting to hold them after they were born, holding them and
counting all their little toes and fingers? Watching their little eyes take in as much of
the big world around them as they can. Those of you that do not have children of
your own, but may have siblings or have held a precious life in your arms, could you
imagine them not being here today? Abortion would have put an end to this little
miracle from God, and unfortunately it does for so many unborn babies. Abortion is
one of the most debated social issues; a process of putting an end to the life of a
baby by killing it in the womb. [We do not need to decide when life begins, but
accept what God has already shown, that life begins before birth. It is impossible to
take a life before birth and it be justified. The beliefs and ethics of God are not
situational and do not provide the exceptions. Life always begins before birth in the
eyes of God even if rape, incest, or other sinful acts conceived the baby. It is only as
our human self-centeredness grows that we look for exceptions of man-based rules
to govern when we can take a life of a baby.] (AbortionFacts.com) Many have
pondered on the topic of abortion. Given such a grave situation, we need now more
than ever to have the courage to look the truth in the eye and call things by their
proper name, without yielding to convenient compromises or to temptation of selfdeception. (Bender, Leone, & Roleff, 1997) Isaiah 5:20 says, Woe to those who call
evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness. Abortion
is murder of the unborn and steps outside of Gods plan for life and should be
outlawed everywhere. I have been talking to you around two minutes now and 6
innocent babies have been aborted.
Before we were even formed in the womb, God knew us. He knew how each
day of their lives on earth would unfold. His love and care goes with us throughout
life. But non-believers are trying to prove we werent even alive in their mothers
womb. But God does miraculous things. A babys life begins at conception, that is a
true miracle of God. Abortion rights activist claim that the embryo has potential for
human life, but it is not yet a person. Paul D. Simmons, the author of Birth & Death:
Bioethical Decision Making, says the embryo is consisted of a few cells and has
none of the qualities necessary for personhood. He argued that abortion of a nonvisible fetus is not murder or an otherwise immortal act. In Luke 1:44 it says, For
behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my
womb for joy. How could a baby not have qualities for personhood? Any process
that terminates a pregnancy after the sperm fertilizes an egg is murder. All human
beings, from their mothers womb, belong to God who searches them and knows
them, who forms them and knots them together with His own hands, who gazes on
them when they are tiny shapeless embryos and already sees in them the adults of
tomorrow whose days are numbered and whose vocation is even now written in the
Book of Life. (Bender, Leone, & Roleff, 1997) The time the ovum is fertilized, a life
has begun which is neither that of the father nor the mother; it is rather the life of a
new human being with its own growth. It would not be made a human if it were not
a human already to begin with. People do not know a babys heart starts to beat at
18 days. The heart begins to beat, unsurely at first, gaining strength day by day.
The heart beats 70 times per minute at first, reaching a maximum of 170-190 beats
at seven weeks, and slowing down a bit to 160-180 beats at 9 weeks.
neither a rare procedure. It is essentially a variant of the even more common and
equally gruesome Intact Dilation and Extraction (D&X) procedure. The woman is
within inches of having a live baby born but kills it within minutes. Abortion
advocates claim partial-birth abortions are performed when a baby or mothers life
is at risk. However, 80% of these babies are normal and mostly viable, and 9.4% of
all late-term abortions protect the womans life are because of fetal defect. Ron Fitz
Simmons, the executive director of National Coalition of Abortion Providers, lied
through his teeth when he said the procedure of partial-birth abortion was
uncommon and only in most extreme situations. He admits that partial-birth
abortion is almost always performed on healthy mothers with healthy babies, and
for that reason the American Medical Association refuses to support the procedure.
Partial-birth abortion is a controversial subject in our society today. The topic
of partial-birth abortion can spark heated arguments on the Senate floor, in the
workplace, to the Pro-Life and Pro-Choice groups. I believe to get a clear
understanding of what partial-birth abortion is it should be seen from the babys
viewpoint. Now many people may look at me crazy for giving a baby a viewpoint
because some may think a baby can not have a viewpoint, but if I dont give you a
different view of abortion from the innocent one being destroyed, who will? My
name is Baby Jane; I was conceived through a one-night stand. My mother, who is a
very successful businesswoman, started a small business in lower Manhattan. My
father is someone my mother knew briefly before my conception. Before my mother
knows I exist, I am already eighteen days old, my heart is formed, and my eyes are
beginning to develop. At two months, my mother has not seen her menstrual
period, and makes an appointment with the doctor. By this time I am well
proportioned, being 1 1/8 long and weighing 1/30th oz. All my organs are present,
and my heart is beating sturdily. My stomach produces digestive juices and my liver
is making blood cells, even my little kidneys begin to function, while my taste buds
are being formed. After my mother discovers she is pregnant, she goes home
despondent. The next few weeks are a whirlwind. She cannot locate my father and
the real problem is her business. What will she do? Who can she trust to run it? She
discusses her situation with close acquaintances. They have many solutions, but
which one is right? The subject of abortion enters the conversation. Would this be
an option? I am now 4 months old, I have fingerprints, my eyelids and palms are
sensitive to touch, and I can even suck my thumb, and have fingernails. I can kick,
turn my feet, make a fist and even practice breathing. I can grasp a hand, swim,
and turn somersaults. If I were born now I would not survive. My mother has kept
her monthly doctor appointments. I am 6 months now. Fine hair grows on my
eyebrows and head. I have a chance of surviving at this age. From the outside it
seems that my mother has resolved her feelings about her pregnancy, but she is
taking the advice of a close acquaintance, and is seeking information about
abortion. She finds that there are many different types of abortions. Because Im
now over 6 months old, the doctor and my mother choose partial-birth abortion.
This is a breech-like delivery. My entire body is delivered except for my head.
Scissors are jammed into the base of my skull, and a tube is inserted to suck my
brains out. My dead body will be pulled out. Well the appointment is scheduled and
the day is set. I am 6 months. My mother enters the hospital alone. Where are
her acquaintances now? She is taken to her room, and given medication to ease her
nerves. It is time for my abortion. My mother is prepared and wheeled into the
operating room. Labor is induced. Once her uterus is dilated, the procedure is set
into motion. I feel someone grabbing at my legs with forceps. It is not time for me to
enter this world! I can hear their voices. I can just make out my mothers voice. I
scream in my world, I am not ready! Nevertheless, I am pulled into the birth canal. I
am delivered down to my head. What has happened? Why did they stop? Something
is piercing the base of my skull. The pain is too much for me to bare. I scream and
move to avoid the piercing, however; I am held in place. The person holding me is
puncturing my skull, and opening the hole by opening the scissors. The scissors are
removed. By this time I am losing blood and consciousness, I can barely feel the
insertion of the suction catheter. As my brains are sucked out my last thoughts are,
Why? Why? Why did my mother allow this to happen to me? Didnt she love me as
I was being formed in her inward parts, or was I an inconvenience? These
questions will not be answered now. My skull has collapsed and I am removed
lifeless. There are no flowers for me, just a cold slab for my little body to lie on. How
could this have been prevented? Not just to me, but the many other babies. What
laws are there for my life to be preserved? There are laws to preserve the wildlife
and the trees, and there are laws to save the sparrows, but my life is worth more
than many sparrows. I could possess a hope and a future, nevertheless; the law
allows such barbaric crime to be brought against me. Who will eventually stand for
my rights? What government official or Supreme Court judge will be bold enough to
go against the grain, and stop calling good evil and evil good? It is not our right to
take the life of an unborn child especially in such a late stage of birth. There are so
many couples that would do anything to have a baby, but for medical and other
reasons they can't. A child is a gift from God. Adoption is a much better solution.
The moment a baby is conceived it has a soul. This is a cruel and evil way to destroy
the life of a child. Our president supports partial birth abortion, but we have the
right to stand up for what is right and not allow this abomination to occur. Abortion,
whether partial or whole, is no more than simple MURDER! God will hold murderers
accountable on judgement day.
No matter which method of abortion is performed, every method has side
effects, both emotionally and physically. Side effects vary from woman to woman
and may last a long period of time. Side effects that are frequently experienced
following an abortion up to 2 to 4 weeks include abdominal pain and cramping,
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and spotting and bleeding between periods. Women
must keep in mind that serious complications can occur and it is important to know
the possible risks. Women will experience heavy or persistent bleeding, infection,
damage to the cervix, scarring of the uterine lining, perforation of the uterus,
damage to other organs, and can also cause death. In 2003, 10 women died as a
result of complications from known legal abortions. Many may argue that this is
Gods way of punishment for breaking his commandment to not murder. These side
effects are just another reasons why an abortion is not necessary.
It is wrong to discriminate against people who have been bor\n because of
the manner in which they came into the world, and it is wrong to discriminate
against preborn people by attempting to justify abortion in cases where the mother
has been raped. Will abortion erase the memory of the rape or heal the emotional
and physical pain of the assault? Hardly. Rape is an act of violence inflicted upon a
woman. She is an innocent victim, and this knowledge may someday help her come
to terms with the rape and rebuild her life. Abortion, on the other hand, is an act of
violence that a mother inflicts on her own child. Through abortion, the mother
becomes the aggressor, and this knowledge may haunt her long after she has dealt
with the rape. Abortion only re-victimizes women who have been raped. Anyone
who thinks abortion is justified for rape victims should consider the following: This
new human being, who is uniquely the mothers child may well be the only goodthe only healing- that will come to this woman from her rape experience. The
woman deserves affirmation, love, and time to recover from the assault. Her baby is
not a monster, and telling a woman that her best option is to get rid of her baby as
soon as possible may only reinforce in her mind the idea that she is a monster,
herself. It has been reported that women who have had abortions often deal with
exactly the same psychological symptoms as the rape victims: depression, guilt, low
self-esteem, uncontrollable sadness, and withdrawal. It is estimated that, on
average, only 0.49 percent- or one-half of one percent- of women who are raped
become pregnant as a result. Justice to the mother will not be achieved by sending
her to the local abortion clinic to solve her problem. It is cruel irony that while a
father cannot receive the death penalty for the crime of rape, his unborn child
conceived in that rape can be executed without trial, jury or judge.
Since abortion was legalized in 1973, there have been over 40 million
abortions in the United States alone. Does that make it moral? No. Of course there is
nothing in the Bible that says thou shalt not abort your children, but God does teach
us that things like murder, suicide, and infanticide (killing newborn children) are
wrong. The Bible forbids abortion, even though it does not come out and say it like
that, there are facts that add up. Doesnt the Bible forbid killing innocent people? An
unborn baby is a person, therefore abortion is prohibited by the Bible. Lets look at
the evidence. The Bible condemns the shedding of innocent life. An unborn baby is
qualified as a human being and is applied to these scriptures. Exodus plainly says
Do not murder. After understanding that murder is wrong, Deuteronomy 27:25a
says, Cursed is he who accepts a bribe to strike down an innocent person.
Hopefully your eyes are slightly being opened now. The next point is that a child is a
person whether born or unborn. God did not make a difference between born and
unborn because that baby is a person from the beginning who goes through growth
and development, both inside and outside the womb. We are beings who are made
in the image of God. (Gen. 1:27) Each person is valuable because God created him
or her that way. It does not matter whether a person is still in his mothers womb, a
newborn, a toddler, an adolescent, or a senior citizen. (Abortion Facts) In the Bible,
it says that God knew you before you were born. Psalm 139:13-16 says, For You
formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mothers womb. I will give thanks to
You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul
knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret,
and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed
substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me,
when as yet there was not one of them. Before people are even formed in the
womb, God knows them. He knows how each day of their lives on earth will unfold.
God calls each of us to defend the innocent. Christians should elect leaders who
share the Biblical view of abortion, support groups working to make abortion
unacceptable in our country, and donate their time and money to pregnancy care
centers. Every Christian should know the facts and their Christian heritage, and be
ready to defend what the Bible really does say about abortion. And we should pray
that God will change the hearts of those promoting the genocide of our nation.
(Abortion Facts)
I have been talking to you around 20 minutes now and 60 innocent babies
have been aborted. Abortion is murder of the unborn and steps outside of Gods
plan for life and should be outlawed everywhere. God calls each of us to defend the
innocent, and that is part of our job here on earth just as Jesus did and still does for
us. Abortion is an inhumane act that needs to be made illegal everywhere. Doctors
and Abortionists do not have the right to take the life of an innocent child; they do
not have the right to play God. They do not decide when life begins. Only God has
that authority, and he already shown us that life begins before birth. Life always
begins before birth in the eyes of God even if rape, incest, or other sinful acts
conceived the baby. It is only as human self-centeredness grows in those who try to
play Gods role that they look for exceptions of man-based rules to govern when we
can take a life of a baby. It is impossible to take a life before birth and it still be
justified. Children are dying. The world is watching. What will you do?
