Elementary: ELL - my lesson plan can be modified for students who are ELL. Showing the clips from the movie Far and Away would hopefully get Diana and the rest of the class engaged. K-8: IEP - One approach is focus on scaffolding and placing those five students behind in reading with ones who are more proficient in reading.

Reflection on IEP and ELL Adjustments Based on
Lesson Plan Elementary: ELL Diana seems to be more comfortable with her lack of study and nonparticipation. My lesson plan can be modified for students who are ELL. Before the class started I could first pass out a handout with vocabulary terms from the text to fill in! Second, showing the clips from the movie Far and Away would hopefully get Diana and the rest of the class engaged and give them a visual to help them connect with the reading and its content. Finally, small group discussion allows for clarification and assessment of the applied standard and retained information. Diana would be assessed during small groups and notes would be taken by the teacher. These different approaches would help students like Diana be more involved and better understand material. K-8: IEP One approach I could include for the students behind in reading is focus on scaffolding and placing those five students with ones who are more proficient in reading. My lesson plan starts with the movie clip so that those with undiagnosed ADD can have something to catch their attention and make them excited! For my student who has a speech disorder I would pay particular attention to which group he or she would be put it! That way his or her peers could encourage conversation and listening. Lastly, the class can reflect more deeply on the images found in the Claiming the Land text and put themselves in the story. This would lead to communication, imagination, questioning, and receptiveness!
