Ms. Wu's Unit Plan Fractions Grade: 8

Ms. Wu's 8th grade unit plan on fractions consists of 8 lessons covering key fraction concepts and skills including reducing, converting between improper and mixed numbers, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction of fractions. It aims to teach all students fraction terminology and operations, while most students will learn to find common denominators and cross reduce accurately, and some will apply fractions to word problems and develop relationships between fractions and percentages. The plan includes hands-on activities using fraction circles/pieces, modeling problems, and group work to reinforce concepts. Formative and summative assessments include do-now questions, quizzes, exam, and clarity of student explanations.
