From One Editor to Another

-Did you choose to be the editor? If yes, why?
-I took over willingly from our first editor, Andreas, in second grade.
-Was it hard to learn how to edit the newspaper so it turns out as we see it?
-I wanted to take over because I'm good at layout and
I like doing it and all the other things such as
correcting articles sort of followed and I got used to
doing it. I hope that since the first edition (October 2013)
it's improved a lot.
-Do you enjoy editing, or does it sometimes feel like a
chore?
-Sometimes it does feel like a chore, when I have
homework and I'm generally busy, but once I get into it,
I like it. (I hate editing the photos!!!)

-What's it like working with Mrs Koniari?
-Well, Mrs Koniari is a very busy teacher and sometimes Kotsiopoulou (Current Editor)
before the paper's published she has to read it and it might take a while. But overall we work well
together!
-In which ways do you try to promote the newspaper to the students?
-When there's a school show, a march (28th/Oct.-25th/March) or a trip I take lots of photos so that
students see themselves in the paper and then buy it. I also put in puzzles for entertainment, and at
the end of the year I interview the school council so that they and their friends and followers buy it
as well.
-Was it hard to get ideas at first, when no one really knew about the Anoixi Herald, and you were new
at the job?
-It wasn't very hard, because I knew what kind of theme I wanted and how to do it but I think the
style of the themes has improved over the years. And every year I try harder!
-Was it hard to get more students to read and join the newspaper?
-In the beginning it wasn't very popular and nobody really knew about it. But as it grew better as a
newspaper more people started buying it and I got regular customers. Report card day is the best
day for sales, because parents get the opportunity to buy it. The final edition of each academic year is
limited and in colour, like this one! Ms Manda once bought all of the monthly newspapers twice, because
she lost some and wanted them all for her collection!
-Do you have a farewell message?
-I've had such fun editing the Anoixi Herald and I hope that you enjoy it as much as
I did. Good luck!

Gremlins

This is a 1984 science fiction movie about a strange kind


of creature named Gremlins. The hero, Billy Peltzer, was given one
as a gift from his father. His
Gremlins name is Gizmo and
he loves music, dancing and
singing. Gizmo shows that he
is adept with weapons,
electrical devices such as a
keyboard, a TV and a toy
car and he also plays the
trumpet. He is just adorable.
There are three
rules that if you don't follow
you will see the bad side of
having a Gremlin. These rules
are: you mustnt expose it to
sunlight, you mustnt feed it
after midnight and dont get
it wet.
In the movie Billy, by
mistake, wets it and...the only
thing I can tell you is that
an army consisting of bad
Gremlins appears...

The players use a racquet to strike a small ball, made


of an elastic material covered with fluffy fabric, over a net in to
their opponents court. Originating in Europe in the early 16th
century, tennis spread firstly through the English-speaking world
especially amongst the upper classes. Tennis is an Olympic sport
and is now played at all levels of society, by all ages and in many
countries around the world. The match takes place on a special
court which is divided in the middle by a net of 91 centimetres
height. The court is divided into 3 main types depending on their
surface.
Hard

courts: most courts in the world, such as the Australian Open.


Clay courts: in Europe most courts belong to this category, such
as the French Open at Roland Garros!
Grass courts: these courts are mainly in England, such as at
Wimbledon.

Rosetta

The European Space Agency's (ESA) Rosetta spacecraft,
which is set to become the
first to orbit a comet and
land a probe on its
nucleus, is beginning its
observations and is sending
science data back to Earth.
Launched in March
2004, Rosetta was
reactivated in January 2014
after a record 957 days in
hibernation. Composed of an
orbiter and lander,
Rosetta's objective is to
arrive at comet
67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko
in August this year to study the celestial object up close in
unprecedented detail and prepare for landing a probe on its
nucleus in November.
Rosetta's lander will obtain the first images taken
from a comet's surface and will provide the first analysis of a
comet's composition by drilling into the surface. Rosetta also will
be the first spacecraft to witness at close proximity how a
comet changes as it is subjected to the increasing intensity of
the sun's radiation. Observations will help scientists learn more
about the origin and evolution of our solar system and the
role comets may have played in seeding the Earth with water,
and perhaps even life.

Hand-imal Art

The fur seems so real you want to stroke it.. The eye shines like it is alive. Guido Danieles portraits of animals look
exactly like photographs.. But look closer and you can see the outline of a thumb and maybe even a fingernail or two.
Guidos hand-imals are not photographs of eagles, birds, fish and snakes, but photos of models hands that have been painted
to look exactly like different creatures! Guido became famous in the early seventies for his body-painting and photography. His
work has been exhibited around the world and hes now considered one of the world s best Hyper-realist artists.

Extreme Ironing

Household chores may be a household bore, but not when they
become extreme sports. There are many strange sports in the world and
here is a new one that you might like to try. Extreme ironing is very
simple. You take your ironing board, your iron and a piece of clothing to
somewhere out of the ordinary and...you iron. There is an annual
competition for the best photograph of extreme ironing.
Many people take it very seriously and train for the competition.
To do extreme ironing you need stamina, but you also have to iron with
grace - you see, this sport is like
dancing. There are photographs of
people ironing underwater, on the tops
of mountains or riding on bikes. You
can iron on your own or with a team
of friends.
Extreme ironing might never become
an Olympic sport, but at least you can
do something exciting and still have
nicely ironed clothes at the end of the
day.

The Dress

The Internet is divided between those who see this dress as black-blue and those who see white-gold. The photo of
a plain dress with lace has sparked fierce controversy.
72% of people argue that the dress is white-gold and 28% insisting
that it is blue-black.
The dress was designed by the company Roman Originals,
which states on its website that is blue with black lace. Nevertheless,
the company hinted that it may design a white-gold version.
The simple scientific explanation behind this conflict is that it
is a mirage. Objects reflect light at specific wavelengths, or colours,
and the human brain determines the colour of an object by employing
the colour reflex. But this perception can be influenced by changing
the colour of surrounding objects.
People who perceive the surroundings as dark are more likely
to see a blue dress as white, and a black dress as gold. It all
depends on the way the brain perceives and processes the colour.
