Polygons
A plane figure with at least three straight sides and
angles, and typically five or more.
a circle is not a polygon because it has a curve side.
Real life example is a Stop Sign.
Quadrilaterals
A quadrilateral is a four-sided polygon with four angles.
Ex. parallelogram, the rectangle, square, trapezoid, and
rhombus.
Real life example is the front side of a dice.
Trapezoids
Parallelograms
Opposite sides are parallel.
A parallelogram where all angles are right angles is a
rectangle.
Real life example is a Soccer fields
Rectangles
A plane figure with four straight sides and four right
angles.
Unequal adjacent sides.
Real life example is the Dallas Cowboys football field
Rhombus
A parallelogram with opposite equal acute sides.
Opposite equal obtuse angles, and four equal sides.
Real life example is the yellow part in the flag.
Squares
A plane figure with four equal sides and four right
angles.
The product of a number multiplied by itself.
Real life example is this Germany flag.
