Evaluation: Teen Proof: Chat Show/ Light Hearted-Topic Binge Drinking
The purpose of Teen Proof is to show some of the dangers of excessive and binge
drinking to the audience (target audience age 16-34 which relates to BBC threes
preference). The main topic will be what does drinking do to you and inside
you? This means while the alcohol stimulate senses that make you feel good,
the alcohol inside you is damaging your organs. In the show we managed to
interview two teenagers that enjoy drinking and do it quite a fair bit of their time.
On the other hand we had a person that was strictly against it, so it was made
for good entertainment. It would be great to interview one or two people that
would have clear ideas on the downside of binge drinking. This show informs and
enlightens how bad excessive drinking is, and convince them to dropping the
intake to a much safer scale. The format of Teen Proof is an educational
entertainment chat show format. This is a great idea because BBC doesnt have
a chat show format on their channel. The interview lively but also remain on
track throughout the interview due to the main message being said on screen.
The style I have decided to choose for this idea is light-hearted. This is because
my target audience (teenagers aged 16-34) are more likely to listen and pay
attention to the information about drinking beyond Limiteds. It is vital that the
target audience is watching these interviews, thats why I have taken a different
approach to getting the message out. Also my target audience would likely listen
to a more lenient tone of voice and a light hearted style rather than a harsh and
combative style. I would like my interview to relate to young people and would
not get distracted easily. My target audience wouldnt want to watch an interview
program which is unexciting. In action to this, there are to be several people to
feature in this program to show a wide range of personalitys and views towards
this subject. Another reason in which I have chosen to have different views from
people on Teen proof, is to present the same conclusion from different people,
which is the fact binge drinking is dangerous.
at making a programme. The weakness of Teen proof is the topic itself was a bit
hard to make interesting to teens. Excessive drinking is a serious topic, and it's
been stereotyped that teens do I a lot. That being said its a challenge to get
teens to listen to a topic, which they don't want to listen to. This is the feedback
we got from our teacher on the binge-drinking episode of Teen Proof. This is
helpful when evaluating my work with suggestions of improvements.
Interviewees shouldnt lie this isnt role play!! You must research and
choose your interviewee carefully. Why planets in the background?
This should be relevant to topic. Nathan dont say cool, cool. Just nod
and show good listening skills. Good initiative to interview people on
the streets however sound is poor. For all three of you I need to see
more of your interview skills. Good use of questioning from Goodness
and no notes. Good outro at the end.
Other than the Target audience I have to take this feedback on-board as it is
straight from the Client. This is because at the end of the day its the client who
is going to be paying for the show to be aired on TV.
The feedback I received indicated that both my client and target audience were
happy with the entire production but there is need for improvement. The let
down I should say is that I didnt show enough of my presentation skills. This was
difficult for me to achieve, as this was my first time doing an interview. This led
me to approach the interview in the way, which I tried to plan. The interviewees
were coming across as they were lying and the interview was scripted, when in
fact it wasnt. However that being said I wasnt expecting one of my guests to
come out with Drinking while Driving story. My audience and client liked what
we did with the outro at the end of the show; which summarizes our entire show.
They thought that it was really creative and a good way to keep them
entertained. For the parts that show my presentation skills they really liked. They
felt that I was really assertive, descriptive and confident when asking the
questions. They also thought I did good research because I knew what I was
talking about, when it came to the effects of binge drinking. They also liked that I
interviewed two totally different people as this gave a different point of view
based on the topic. My first production feedback indicated that I still needed
some work with my presenting technique and I also lacked creativity in my
Editing besides from the intro.
