Lesson Objectives:
• The students will view how to use Web 2.0 site called Kideos.
• The students will view the life cycle of a butterfly.
• The students will research another topic of interest and write two learned facts
from video.
• Students will create a poster of facts about a topic of choice.

Assessment:

• Observation
• View completed fact poster page for creativity and accuracy.

Materials:

• about three to five parent volunteers


• computer lab
• poster paper

Inclusion:

• Redirection and close proximity are the only needed techniques for students with
special needs.

Enrichment:

• Students will be encouraged to locate and view three additional videos and
present three facts learned about videos.

Lesson Presentation:

Introduction/Motivational Activities:

• Students will view website and one video, using the smart board.
• Students will view teacher’s example poster of facts.

Teaching Sequence:

• Take students to computer lab.


• Students will view the process of getting to the website Kideos, using the Smart
Board, in lab.
• Introduce the three to five parent volunteers.
• Have students begin to view butterfly cycle video
• Allow students to locate another video of their choice.
• Give paper and allow students to write some learned facts about their videos.
• Give poster paper and have students create posters.

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities:

• Circulate room and encourage students to raise their hand for questions.
• Observe student’s work to assess accuracy and creativity of assignment.

Closure:

• Give students a five-minute warning before stopping.


• Close down computers.
• Give students copy of website to share with their parents.
• Collect posters.
