These tendons may be electrically ‘monitored at any time throughout the life of the structure All ducts are manufactured in a varity of standard lengths and are coupled on site. STRAND BUNDLEBONDED SLAB POST-TENSIONING SYSTEM VSL bonded slab post-tensioning is used for all types of slabs in buildings, bridge decks and similar applications. VSL bonded slab post-tensioning tendons consist of up to four strands of 13 mm (0.5") or 15 mm (0.6") diameter, placed in flat duets, with corresponding anchorages. The strands are stressed and locked-off individually, Placing and grouting procedures are similar to those for the VSL multistrand system. Corrugated or smooth steel ducts as well as corrugated polyethylene ducts of the VSL PT-PLUS™ system are available. Slab post-tensioning enables deflections and cracks under service conditions to be kept under control. This permits larger spans and thinner slabs to be used. The reduced costs of materials and labour result in lower costs and faster construction. Usually there are also important indirect savings on foundations, columns, walls and vertical services. ‘in, Breaking oad : rand Type | Tendon | numbseot | Sandy Stand ype Tendon Properties | Unt” | "Stands. | Euro bs.7e | aSTRAE bs FBS 8896: 1980 | “Grace 270 ‘Super (t) a, Tmmesy] ss] 3 358 S51 sa | 4 14 ms ss_| 5 230 a8 “‘emmoay] 68 | 4 1060 joss os_| 5 1525 1304 urnorm 5660: 1980 Dimensions of Ducts ee [Bs a oie dan Se easet paula € (smooth type) sa.55 | 25 | Ley a aes | 25 | 00 sass | 35 | a Potty Dimensors mam ‘Subect to masifeationS04 Stressing Anchorage VSL Type S Wedges| Strands, Recess Former ‘The details of the reinforcement in the anchorage zone ‘shouldbe determined bythe enginear of record. Extemal tendons are also well suited for the strengthening of existing structures External VSL tendons consist of: a strand bundle; a duct of polyethylene or steel end and intermediate anchorages as well as tendon couplers; ‘a grouting compound. External tendons, usually guided polygonally over suitable deviation saddles, have many similarities to stay cables and permanent soil and rock anchors.
