MS-DOS COMMANDS

1. CHDIR Displays the name of or changes the current directory.


2. CHKDSK Checks a disk and displays a status report.
3. CLS Clears the screen.
4. COMP Compares two groups of files to find information that does not match.
5. COPY Copies and appends files.
6. DATE Displays and/or sets the system date.
7. DEFRAG Optimizes disk performance by reorganizing the files on the disk.
8. DEL Deletes files from disk.
9. DELTREE Deletes a directory including all files and subdirectories that are in it.
10. DIR Displays directory of files and directories stored on disk.
11. ECHO Displays messages or turns on or off the display of commands in a batch file.
12. EDIT Starts the MS-DOS editor, a text editor used to create and edit ASCII text files.
13. EXIT Exits a secondary command processor.
14. EXPAND Expands a compressed file.
15. FASTHELP Displays a list of DOS commands with a brief explanation of each.
16. FIND Finds and reports the location of a specific string of text characters in one or
more files.
17. FOR Performs repeated execution of commands (for both batch processing and
interactive processing).
18. FORMAT Formats a disk to accept DOS files.
19. GRAPHICS Provides a way to print contents of a graphics screen display.
20. LABEL Creates or changes or deletes a volume label for a disk.
