Experiment 13 Determination of The Molar Entropy o

1. The experiment aims to determine the molar entropy of fusion (ΔSf) of camphor. 2. Various masses of naphthalene and a constant mass of camphor were mixed and the freezing point depression was measured. 3. The freezing point depression was plotted against the number of moles of naphthalene to obtain the freezing point constant (Kf). 4. Using the Van't Hoff equation and the freezing point constant when no naphthalene was added, the molar entropy of fusion of camphor was calculated to be 8.705 JK-1mol-1.

Sf = 8.705 JK-1mol-1
Sf = Hf/T0
Hf = 8.705 x 445
= 3873.83Jmol-1

Conclusion:
The molar entropy of fusion of camphor in this experiment is 8.705JK-1mol-1.
