How To Write A Descriptive Essay

Think about the person you are going to describe and


write down the descriptive details about how the person
looks, his or her personality and likes and dislikes.
Your essay cannot be written in only one paragraph so
you need to know what is expected.
You are expected to write four paragraphs and you
should do so at all times when you are asked to write a
descriptive essay. The essay should include ALL of the
following.
An introductory paragraph - you are basically
introducing your hero to your readers by just giving an
overview of them. Do not give any details in your
introductory activity. Always try to find a creative way
to write your introduction because the purpose of the
introduction is to capture the interest of the readers.
Here is a common but interesting way to write an
introductory paragraph.
A hero is someone who is selfless, brave, kind and is
always willing to do what it takes to give someone a
helping hand. These qualities separate a hero from an
ordinary person. Mr Taylor has demonstrated all these
heroic qualities and more and that is why he has earned

my admiration and that of the people in my district. He is


my personal hero and I hope to emulate him in the
future.
Two body paragraphs- This is where you describe the
person in details by giving examples and citing
scenarios where the heroic qualities were demonstrated.
Each paragraph must contain a topic sentence and
supporting sentences.
Mr Taylor is a very brave and selfless man. He is not
afraid to voice his opinions and concerns about the
community to anyone. He has stood up the police on
several occasions because they target and treat the young
men of the community unfairly. He even went to jail once
because he refused to allow the police to lock up an old
sick woman who stole food to eat. He is always willing to
put the needs of people before his wishes and desires.
That makes Mr. Taylor the most selfless person in the
world.
One concluding paragraph- This is where you restate
the main idea of the essay and wrap everything up.
My hero Mr. Taylor is a special person. He has
demonstrated all the qualities of a hero and is loved and
admired by everyone who knows him The world would be
a much better place if more persons emulated, Taylor and

thought less about themselves and more about the needs


of others..

qualities that make him or her a hero. Say something
about how the qualities have affected you and others
without giving details.
