What We Do In Class
Class opens with a bell ringer/journal prompt
English I Course
Description
This English class will provide a
foundation for learning in
language arts that students can
build upon throughout the rest of
their high school years. Students
will develop their reading, writing,
listening, and speaking skills
through thematic units.
Objective
Students will work to achieve the
Common Core Standards for 9th
grade Language Arts.
Classroom Norms

each speaker.
4. Follow directions the first time
they are given.
5. No use of electronic devices.

Binder
You must bring your binder
EVERY DAY to class. Your
binder is a vital component
to your learning. In your
binder you will keep track of
all your notes, bell ringers,
and graded assignments.

All work must be turned
in on time.
Late work will be
accepted but points will
be deducted (one letter
grade lower)
If you have an EXCUSED
ABSENCE homework
assignment(s) will be
accepted. However, if

UNEXCUSED ABSENCE
homework assignment(s)
will NOT be accepted.
Makeup work and extra
assignments will be
given every FRIDAY, and
must be turned in the
following MONDAY.

gets better by working hard and
practicing over and over again
pushing themselves each time. Its
okay if you have trouble doing it the
first time, try again.
