MKT 222: Principles of Retailing
Group Assignment (25%)
In a group of 4 members, select an idea of establishing a retail store and
attempt the following tasks:
Any retail business (of your choice. Eg. specialty, grocery, service,
etc. Should not select any retail franchise approach, such as 7-11,
Speedmart, etc.)
Conduct critical competitor and customer analysis
Select a strategic location & list other proposed locations in long
term planning
Present a floor plan of the store layout
Discuss the product category/ies you wish to retail
Discuss the promotional strategy
Conclude your report in forecasting the possible success of your
whole approach and include any recover plan for failure.
You are required to write a report pertaining to the above task. The flow of
the task is depending on your own strategic approach in retail planning.
Note :
The report has to be typed as Times New Roman, using font size 12
and 1.5 spacing and have a proper format (justify).
The length of the report should not be more than 2,500 words.
Completed work must be submitted by week 5 in class followed by
group presentation. Late submission will not be accepted under any
condition, and will carry a 0 mark.
All facts obtain must have APA referencing.
Print the attached assessment forms and submit with your report
(after your cover page)
