MathWe have started Topic # 3 which is multiplying numbers.
We will be talking about math properties like the Commutative
and Associative Properties. We also will be learning about exponents. Please note that extra credit is offered at the beginning of each topic.
Reading Next week our story is Ten Mile Day. Before the
1860s, no railway ran all the way across the United States.
However, in 1862 Congress began the task of joining the West
coast with the East coast. The skill this week is Cause & Effect.
GrammarThis week in grammar we learned about action
and linking verbs. Next week we will learn about main and
helping verbs.
Writing We will be focusing on a personal narrative writing
next week. We will be discussing hooking a reader.
Spelling Our list focuses on contractions this week. Please
practice your words. You can access the words at
www.spellingcity.com/triton5 on your computer
Social Studies We are studying the Early Americans and finding that there are three theories as to how they arrived in the
Americas. We have also been learning about Aztec, Inca, and
Maya Civilizations.
Science We reviewed the Scientific Method and participated
in a controlled ball experiment. Now, we are learning about
the tools that scientist use.

My Plate
We are having a special speaker come on Thursdays. Mrs.
Beehler works for Purdue and is coming to share with our
class benefits to a healthy life style. She is focusing on nutrition and physical exercise. She always brings a healthy snack
to share!
