Highlights of The Week: March 1

Highlights of the Week: March 1 – 5, 2010

Reading: The students set new goals for the number of points to be earned and
the level to be attained for the month of March..

Math: The students learned how to identify equivalent fractions.

Language Arts: The students are working on writing a narrative story.

Science: The students studied facts about the sun.

Social: The students studied facts about the Iditarod Race, which begins on
March 6.

We celebrated “Read Across America Day" by reading a biography of Dr.


Seuss. The students wrote a descriptive paragraph based on the book And to
Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street. After reading Bartholomew and the
Oohblek, the students experimented with oohblek.

Important Events:

Monday, March 8: First week of physical activities calendar due. Cut off the
first week of March and return to me on Monday. Late returns are not accepted
according to the guidelines of the program.

Wednesday. March 10: Usborne Book Read-a-thon pledge money and wish lists
are due.

Wednesday, March 17: Field trip to the Prairie Wetlands from 12:45 – 2:45.
Volunteers are needed.
