Pivot Pin Design

This document describes calculations for determining the diameter of pivot pins used in cylinder head, rod end, shell mounting, and connecting link designs. The calculations involve determining the shear yield strength of the material, calculating shear stress based on applied force and a safety factor, and using the shear stress and force to calculate the required pin area and diameter. Safety factors of 5, 5, and 4 are used for the cylinder head, shell mounting, and connecting link pin calculations respectively. The calculated diameters are then rounded up to available standard sizes.
