Assignment 3 Defendyourposition
Assignment 3 Defendyourposition
Explain what the issue is about. What makes the issue important?
Consider the points of view of the three citizens and use them to help with your
analysis. Do not copy what they say or simply express agreement with one of the
citizens. (eg. I think Citizen II describes why this issue is important.)
Explain why there are different points of view on the issue. Once again consider the
reasons given by the three citizens and use this as a prompt to help you describe your
reasons.
Start each paragraph with a statement explaining why you have taken your position.
Provide examples from your knowledge of Social Studies to prove why your position
should be supported. Make sure your examples are specific, detailed and accurate.
Show off how much social studies you know!
End your paragraph with a concluding sentence explaining how your examples prove
your argument (your first sentence) and your position.
3. Communication:
Most students will probably write 3 to 4 paragraphs one for exploring the issue and
identifying the various points of view, one or two paragraphs for your arguments (two
is preferable) and one for the conclusion.
