Phase Modulation: Najeeb Haider Zaidi

Phase modulation changes the phase of the carrier wave proportionally to changes in the amplitude of the message signal. The phase of the carrier wave is represented mathematically as θ(t) = KPSK × vm(t), where KPSK is the modulation index and vm(t) is the message signal amplitude. The modulated signal is represented as vm(t) = Vc sin[ωc t + θ(t)], where the phase θ(t) is modulated by the message signal. Phase modulation is similar to frequency modulation in that the same equipment can generate both, but they differ in that changing the message frequency alters the modulation index for PM but the frequency deviation for FM.
