Experiment/Project/Documentation Report Layout Structure

1. Cover Page include the experiment title, students name and ID, date and lab.
2. Acknowledgements
3. Table of contents if exceeding 5 pages.
4. List of Figures and Tables
5. Data/information sheet list and definition of variables used throughout the
report, their significant figures and error of instruments.
6. Introduction Explaining the theory and principles used for/ behind this specific
experiment.
a. Background Information
b. Problem Formulation
7. Experiment/Body the experiment is sectioned as follows:
a. Aims and Objectives
b. Equipments
c. Hypothesis
d. Diagrams
e. Designing and Selection
f. Procedures and Specifications
g. Precautions taken
8. Results and Calculations - tabulation of recorded data and calculation for
comparison against the hypothesis. Graphs may be included.
9. Observations and Analysis Deduction and conclusion of the experimentation
according to the defined theory.
10. Discussion Answer further question if any or states improvements of the
experimentation.
11. Conclusion and Achievements

12. Presentation of Final Conclusion(s)


13. Bibliography
14. Appendix - Include all hand works, graphs if ever the graphs of part 6 are
computer generated and all other evidence of the experimentation.
The above layout is not the only way of presenting a report. You can further modify the
context according to your experiments.
