Morning Meetings
In Unit 1 of Superkids, we read A Patch in a Pinch. A theme of this story is
showing kindness, helpfulness, and understanding. During our morning
meetings, weve listed ways to show kindness in school. I introduced a
Kindness Tree, which is hanging on our classroom bulletin board.
Whenever students are seen or heard showing kindness to a classmate, I
write their name on a paper leaf and add the leaf to the tree. We are
excited to see how full our tree can be! Some examples of kindness
seen/heard so far:
Please and thank you
Tying a friends shoe
Helping a friend pick up something that fell, or a mess
Reminding someone of a direction they forgot in a kind tone
Volunteering to walk a friend to the nurses office
Volunteering to be a friends partner, or include a friend in an

Paw Pass Redemption is scheduled for Friday. On Thursday, the
children will count up their paws and record their totals on their
menus. The menu will come home Thursday night. As part of
Thursdays homework, please go over the menu with your
child. Talk about how many paws he/she has, how many
he/she would like to spend, and what some of the shortterm and long-term reward choices are that your child is
interested in.
Please help your child to fill out the menu by checking off
which reward choice(s) he/she would like to pick this round.
Send it back on Friday. Thanks!
