This document summarizes an action research project that tested a "Smart Divide Technique" using multiplying and dividing bones to help Year 4 pupils master dividing with one-digit numbers. The technique had students draw patterns for dividing and multiplying. Testing of the lowest performing dividing students showed they improved their test scores after learning the technique. Interviews and observations found the students responded positively and engaged actively with improved skills and interest in dividing. The results demonstrated the technique helped pupils improve at dividing two, three, and four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers.

USING SMART DIVIDE TECHNIQUE BASED ON MULTIPLYING BONES(DARAB
TULANG) TO HELP YEAR 4 PUPILS TO MASTER THE SKILL OF DIVIDING USING
ONE DIGIT NUMBER ABSTRACT This action research was carried out to help pupils to master the way for dividing two digits numbers up to four digits number by using one digit based from the Smart Divide Technique using the combination of multiplying bones(darab tulang) and dividing bones(bahagi tulang). It requires the pupils to draw the pattern of dividing and multiplying bones. The research participant consisted of five pupils from the Year four pupils who obtain the lowest marks in dividing test. The data was collected through pre and post test, document analysis, interviews and observation. The analysis shows that the entire five participants managed to improve their marks in the post test compared to the pre test that have been conducted. From the document analysis, each pupil achieved high marks for all the worksheets. The interviews and observation done showed that there were positive responses and their skills have improved in answering the dividing questions. The participants stated that they were happy in learning the dividing technique. There were also improvement that can be seen in their behavior towards their interest and they were actively involved throughout the intervention in learning the technique. The result of the research shows that the technique works in helping pupils to improve their mastery of dividing two digits number, three digits number and four digits number using one digit.
