Fire Alarm (Simplex) PDF

TrueAlarm analog smoke sensors have seven levels of sensitivity ranging from 0.2% to 3.7% obscuration per foot. The sensors provide an analog measurement digitally communicated to the host control panel. The control panel software filters the sensor values to compensate for environmental factors and provide an accurate reference for evaluating new activity and reducing false alarms. The alarm setpoint for each sensor is determined and selectable at the control panel.

On smooth ceilings, smoke sensor spacing of
9.1 m may be used as a guide.
Seven levels of sensitivity are available for eac
h individual sensor, ranging from 0.2% to 3.7%
per foot of smoke obscuration. Sensitivities of
0.2%, 0.5%, and 1% are for special application
s in
clean areas. Standard sensitivities are
1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5%, and 3.7%.
TrueAlarm analog sensors provide an analog
measurement digitally communicated to the ho
st control panel using Simplex addressable
communications.

Monitoring each sensors average value provid

es a continuously shifting reference point. This
software filtering process compensates for envi
ronmental factors (dust, dirt, etc.) and compon
ent
aging, providing an accurate reference f
or
evaluating new activity. With this filteri
ng, there is a significant reduction in the proba
bility of false or nuisance alarms caused by shi
fts in sensitivity, either up or down.
The alarm set point for each TrueAlarm sensor
is determined at the host control panel, selecta
ble as more or less sensitive as the individual
application requires.

Digital transmission of analog sensor values via IDNet o

r MAPNET II two-wire communications.
Address remains with its programmed location.
Rate-of-rise temperature detection is selectable at the
control panel for either 15F (8.3C) or 20 F (11.1 C)
per minute.
Fixed temperature sensing is independent of rate-of-rise
sensing and programmable to operate at 135F (57.2C
) or 155 F (68 C).
In a slow developing fire, the temperature may not incre
ase rapidly enough to operate the rate-of-rise feature. H
owever, an alarm will be initiated when the temperature
reaches its rated fixed temperature setting.
