Lap 3

This document discusses the impact of body image on women's well-being and happiness. It states that a positive body image involves feeling comfortable with one's size and shape, while a negative body image involves a distorted perception that can lead to comparing oneself to others and feelings of shame. Developing an unhealthy body image can cause emotional distress, low self-esteem, dieting issues, anxiety, depression and eating disorders. Therefore, cultivating a positive body image and healthy mental attitude are crucial for a woman's wellness and happiness. However, the media and industries manipulate women into believing they must achieve a certain unrealistic "look" through how they portray the ideal woman.

Rationale

With a positive or healthy body

image, a woman has a real
perception of her size and shape,
and she feels comfortable with her
body. With a negative body image,
a woman has a distorted
perception of her shape and size,
compares her body to others, and
feels shame and anxiety about her
body. Being unhappy with your
body can affect how you think and
feel about yourself as a person. A
poor body image can lead to
emotional distress, low selfesteem, dieting, anxiety,
depression, and eating disorders.
Developing a positive body image
and a healthy mental attitude is
crucial to a woman's happiness
and wellness. By studying the how
the media portrays the happy
woman, we are able to recognize
how we are manipulated into
believing that we must have THAT
LOOK
