Luke 16:1-8
FROM HIM AND FOR HIM
I was once given the opportunity to lead other people. As I started to serve others, that was when
I experienced difficulties and challenges. But the brand of leadership taught in the Catholic
community I was a part of showed me how to follow Jesus example of being a true leader who
puts others' needs first before his own a far cry from the shrewd manager in the Gospel who
abused everything that the master entrusted to him for his own benefit and advancement.
The manager in todays parable wasted his possession. As we are called to be Gods servants,
what the gospel reminds us today is that all that we have belongs to the Lord. What He is
expecting from us is to make a good return of what He is giving us. The way we live our life here
on earth should be our way of thanksgiving to Him who is the source of all.
As we strive to live a life that is worthy in the eyes of Christ, let us consider the things that he
has given us as gifts -- gifts that are meant to be treasured, taken care of and be handled with
love. Let us free ourselves from greed and fill ourselves with generosity to serve, share and
regard everything that we have and attain as His.
