Nov 209newsletter

This document is a weekly newsletter from a second grade teaching team. It provides parents with information about the upcoming week's lessons in reading, English, math, science, and social studies. It also lists important dates like upcoming assessments, school events, and holidays. The teachers note that homework will now involve projects every couple weeks instead of a choice board. They remind parents about attendance policies and offer times for students to take AR tests in the classroom and library.

Notes from the Teacher:

Dear Parents,
There will no longer be a homework activity choice board. We will be sending home projects every couple
of weeks that your child needs to work on as homework, but be on the look out for any assignments your child did
not finish in class. Please make sure you are sending your child to school unless he/she is sick. After two
unexcused absences, you have to send in a doctors note. If your child has 5 unexcused absences, our guidance
counselor will be contacting you for a meeting. If your child has 10 unexcused absences, we have to send a letter
into the SCS truancy office. Tardies and early leaves also add up to unexcused absences if you do not have a
doctors note. Also, we are very limited with technology this year. We would love for your child to take AR tests in
the classroom, but this is a work in progress. Our librarian can supervise and assist AR tests on Mondays and
Fridays in the computer lab from 8:45-9:15. She can also help administer AR tests in the library on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays from 8:45-9:15. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks for ALL that you do,
Ms. Brown, Ms. Michaud, and Ms. Joyce

Spelling Words: vowel digraphs ee, ea

Please do not forget we will not be doing traditional spelling tests anymore. We will be studying the
spelling skill and the test will be proofreading these words in a paragraph.
