Intro To NETS-S For Students Grade Level K-2

This document provides examples of student performance indicators for technology standards for students in grades K-2. It includes 6 examples of activities students could do to meet different standards, such as using digital cameras to document solutions to an environmental issue, emailing students from other cultures to learn about them, finding facts about Benjamin Franklin online and collaborating in groups, and using simulations and graphic organizers to learn about life cycles of plants and animals. The examples describe the activities and learning objectives for students.

Intro to NETS-S for

Students
Grade Level K-2
A Closer look at Some Actual Student Performance Indicators
By KerriAnn Clark
2. Identify, research and collect data on an
environmental issue using digital resources and
propose a developmentally appropriate solution. (1,3,4)
 I would give our 2 digital cameras to
groups of four and each student needs to
take a picture of how they can help by
recycling
 Students will then be shown how to upload
their photos so that the whole class can see
the different ways to recycle.
 Our class would then help with a school
presentation of how each child can do their
part to recycle and help save our Earth.
3. Engage in learning activities with
learners from multiple cultures through
email and other electron means (2).
 I would like my students to email either a student from
another culture that lives in the United States or they can
pick from a list of emails that I will provide of children
from other countries or cultures to email.
 They will have 1 month to gather up information about
another child and his or her culture and then will present a
poster about what they had learned from that child and
their culture.
5. Find and Evaluate Information related
to a current or historical person or
event using digital resources (3).
 In order to get my students involved in
the learning process, I would have them
look up cool facts on the internet about
Benjamin Franklin and write them down.
 Once they have complete this assignment
the students would then work in groups
to collaborate with one another and
provide a word document with all the
facts that they learned as a group.
6. Use simulations and graphical organizers to
explore and depict patterns of growth such as
the life cycles of plants and animals (1, 3, 4).
 I would put either and use a smart board
or projector to put up the life cycle of a
plant
 Together as a class we will go through
the different stages of the life cycle and
fill in the missing blanks in out graphic
organizer.
 One they have completed this task, they
will then be able to color their graphic
organizer which will help them to
remember the life cycle of a plant.
