Fahad Al Mojil

Please have your child read

15 minutes nightly to improve
their fluency and
understanding. To help
understanding, please ask
them Who is in the story,
What are they doing, Why are
they doing it and What does
this story make you think of?
Asking these questions
nightly will greatly improve
your childs comprehension
skills. Thank you!

Each week we will celebrate a student in the

classroom for who they are. This has nothing
to do with behavior, we are just celebrating
the fact that they are important to our
classroom community.

Dear Families,
Your children have been doing an excellent job of learning how to research. This next
week we will continue to concentrate on researching and work towards writing a report
based on the research that they have done. Please make sure that your childs iPads
are charged daily so that they can utilize it in the classroom.

Literacy

Ask who, what, when, where, how, and why questions while
reading a story (Suggested questions on the blog under
Helpful Questions for Reading tab)
Introduce how to research by using PLAN, DO, REVIEW

Ways to help at home: Please have your child read nightly and then
tell you who is in the story and what did they do, where did they
do it and most importantly why did they do it. Please have your
child tell you what they plan to do to prepare for bed (PLAN), have
them do it (DO), and then ask them how did their plan work
(REVIEW). You may also ask them about planning on making a
sandwich (PLAN), making the sandwich (DO) and then reviewing how
the plan worked (REVIEW).

Money (1/4 KD, 1/2 KD, 1 KD, 5 KD, and so on)

Ways to help at home: Please help your child practice using money
by letting them make small purchases at the grocery store.

Change over time impacts relationships

Unit
Ways to help at home: Please have your child continue to look at
labels on the products used around your home so that they can
solidify the understanding that in order for our society to have the
things that we want, we must get them from other countries.

Our class is in the process of building our community here at school. Every student
is an important part of our community. Please discuss at home their responsibilities
within our classroom and school community. Thank you!
