ACADEMIC GUIDANCE
All incoming students are welcomed at their department (welcome-days, kick off, ), sometimes
individually, in other cases in groups. They are familiarized with the campus and the tutors and are
informed about all practical and academic matters, relevant for their specific exchange period at
Artevelde University College Ghent. Incoming students, who opt for a clinical placement, are offered
the same tutoring during their internship as our regular students.
ACCOMMODATION - HOUSING
The housing service is operated by Student Facilities, the organisation of Artevelde University
College Ghent that is responsible for the social services offered to the students.
Everything you need to know about finding and renting a room in Ghent can be read on

From Thursday 11th June 2015 (CET 09:00 AM) the registration tool to apply for a room will be put
online!
LANGUAGE COURSES
We are convinced that a successful integration of exchange students, certainly if they are involved in
practical placements, also depends on their knowledge of the language and culture of their host
country.
Artevelde University College Ghent facilitates the possibility to participate in regular Dutch courses
on different levels and at different dates.
Some of our international programmes include a tailor-made language and culture course
integrated in the programme.
STUDENT CARD
During your exchange period at the Artevelde University College Ghent, you get a student card. Your
student-card is the proof that you are an exchange-student at Artevelde University College Ghent
and has to be used to pay for prints and copies at your campus.
Outside the campus you can use your card at places where you can get student discounts (e.g.
student-restaurants, libraries, cinemas, etc).
You have to fetch your card at Campus Hoogpoort at the central student administration, after having
made an appointment. You will get detailed information on how and when to make an appointment
during the introduction at your campus.
USER ACCOUNT
As almost all communication between staff and students and among students takes place via the
digital learning platform and email, students are offered a user account to make use of these
facilities during their stay.

You only know the real value of insurance when you need it ... !
All exchange students need to be properly insured while they are studying at or undertaking practice
