SLA Chapter 6

How can you change affective characteristics that are working

against you? For example, if you have low task self-esteem when
doing certain kinds of exercises, how might you change your general
affective style so that you could be more successful? Or do you see
strengths in your tendencies that you should maintain? Explain.
I think that we can try to change our attention. For example, when
bitten by mosquitos, we must feel the stung part too itch to stop
scratching it; however, if we pat on the stung part, we will soon feel
hurt instead of itch. Like the change of our physical feeling, our
mental feeling can also be changed. So, when we feel nervous,
there must be something hunted in our brain to let us keep thinking
the things that make us nervous. To ease our uneasy, we can think
other things for a while to gain more time to get rid of being anxiety.
