PHYSICAL EDUCATION LESSON PLAN

Activity: LEVEL # 1 WEEK # 10


GRADE LEVEL & NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 1st, 39
TIME: 30 mins GO LAKERS!!!!
EQUIPMENT: Magic number cards, music for fitness, parachute, balls, 10-20 bean bags,
cones, cd player, auxilary cord,

OBJECTIVES:
To independently identify different locomotor movements
To independently travel the mini challenge course
To cooperate with peers in parachute activities
To work cooperatively in low-organized game settings
CALIFORNIA PE STANDARDS:
Introductory Activity:
Fitness Activity:
2.2 Identify people/objects that are within personal space and within boundaries
2.3 Identify the base of support of balanced objects
Lesson Focus:
1.4 Change direction from forward and back and right and left in response to tempos,
rhythms, and signals while walking, running, hopping, and jumping (i.e., locomotor
skills).
3.1 Participate in physical activities that are enjoyable and challenging.
Game:
PART 1: INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY (2-3 mins):
Activity
Students put together a series of movements
based on the magic numbers given. For
example, hold up a card with three numbers
on it (10, 8, 14). Students respond by
performing three different locomotor
movements the specified number of times,
respectively.

Teaching Hints
Encourage variety of response.
Use movements such as walking, running,
jumping, hopping, galloping, sliding,
leaping, and skipping.

PART 2: FITNESS DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY (8-12 mins):


Activity

Teaching Hints

Course 1: Hop in and out of 5 hoops, Bear


Walk around a cone for 5 seconds, and skip
to the finish cone.
Course 2: Weave in and out of four cones,
Crab Walk around a cone for 5 seconds,
and gallop to finish cone.

Count off by 1s and 2s to split class in half


Demonstrate and explain obstacle courses.
Play music to start the course, stop music
when they are done.
Have them sit when finished.

PART 3: LESSON FOCUS (15-20 mins):


Activity
1.Circular movements
Move utilizing locomotor movements
and holding the chute at various
levels--walk, run, hop, jump, skip,
slide, draw steps.
2.Shaking the Rings and Making Waves.
Shaking the Rug should involve small,
rapid movements, whereas Making
Waves is large movements.
5.Activities with Balls and Beanbags.
a. Ball circle--Use a basketball or cageball
and make it circle around the outside of the
chute. Add a second ball.
7.Tug-of-War.
Divide the class into two equal halves. On
signal, hey move and try to pull each other.

Teaching Hints
When performing locomotor movements
with the chute, have the students move the
chute with one hand. The direction of the
movement can be stated by asking for a
right hand run, or a left hand skip, etc.

Encourage students to work together.


Discuss how much easier it is when all
students pull and lift together.
Try the activities holding the chute with
both hands and with one hand.

PART 4: GAME ACTIVITY (5 mins):


Activity
Students are divided into 4 groups and
lined up in a straight line along the
perimeter. The first person in each line has
a ball or a beanbag in hand. On a signal,
this first person passes ball or beanbag over
his/her head to the second player. The
second player passes it through his/her legs,

Use Toe-toe with three closest partners.
Have one student raise their hand, one
student take a knee, and one student
