Question
My science fair project is focused on: how much weight can donut
magnets repelling each other hold.
Abstract
Magnetic power Ricardo Sanchez Milwee Middle
School Lake Mary, Florida
In my project I'm trying to find how much weight the
repulsion of magnets can hold. I did this experiments to see
if things like elevators could be made out of magnets, since
they need to hold weight, and the repulsion makes it go up.
My hypothesis was that the more magnets I added the more
weight the magnets repulsion could resist the bottles
weight. In my experiment I was putting donut magnets on a
stick, then putting a bottle{with measure water} on top of
them. At the end of my experiment I found out that magnet
could carry lots of weight and my hypothesis was
confirmed since more magnets helped support the weight.
Hypothesis
If I add more magnets, then the magnet's repulsion will be able to
carry more weight.
Procedure
Steps:
1.
Gather materials.
2.
3.
4.
Put ring magnets on opposite side of each{so that they are repelling} other on the
stick.
5.
6.
7.
Start putting water in the bottle until the magnets are touching each other.{By oz
with the measuring cup}
8.
9.
Materials
For my experiment I will need :
19 ceramic ring magnets.
Water.
A board with a hole on it.
A stick to put the magnets through.
A plastic bottle with a plastic pipe, and a measuring cup.

Starting from 9, we
did not have a big
enough bottle to keep
adding water, so we
recorded how
high they were with
the most amount of
water we could get.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I confirmed that the magnets ability to carry
weight increases with the amount of magnets used. My hypothesis
was correct, because the more magnets I added, the more the
magnet's repulsion resisted the bottle's weight!
