San Diego campus, like many college campus, is diverse in many ways, in terms of
race, religion, color, sex, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity
and expression, national origin, pregnancy, medical condition. San Diego University is
seeking someone who can demonstrate experience and/or commitment to teaching and
working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of
underrepresented groups.
As a health Educator one would be under the general lead work direction of the
Director of Health Promotion. As well as providing health education opportunities for
students, planning and developing health education trainings, programs and workshops,
and developing and maintaining written materials for outreach and in-house use. Must
organize and conduct health education and behavioral health-risk prevention programs
with the goal being to improve health knowledge, attitudes and behaviors.
Being a health educator comes with many responsibilities some of which include,
Educating individual students on specific health education topics such as family planning,
HIV/AIDS, STIs, sexual assault, wellness and health behaviors, & violence prevention.

One would have to respond to student walk-in and phone information requests; assess
and advise students on appropriate referrals or services. As well as being able to maintain
up-to-date knowledge on behavioral-health related issues relevant to the student
population and on the current best-practices for teaching in a manner that positively affects
change. Develop and conduct behavioral health-risk prevention programming.
Those who want this job are require to have experience and education
Bachelors degree or equivalent in an approved program in health education. As well as
one to two years of progressively responsible health education experience or
combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and
abilities. Specialized requirements one must have includes, excellent written and oral
communication and teaching skills. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
certification preferred. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be
completed before anyone can be offered a position.

Working in the Clinical service. As a clinical administrator I would be responsible
for the overall coordination of business at any one or more of the AltaMed medical and
dental clinic facilities. As well as working together with the Site Lead Physician and/or
dental director in effectively managing the program. Responsible for oversight and
contract management of the Master Agreements between hospital and provider
services/medical group.
Being a Clinic administrator comes with many responsibilities. Some of the
responsibilities for this job include. Ensuring an adequate schedule for all clinic
personnel to support operational goals. Implementing, evaluating, and achieving
productivity standards for providers and support staff. Supervises the scheduling of
patients and evaluates the patient flow to reduce overall cycle time to company target.
Evaluating the clinic space for appropriate and maximum utilization. Make well justified
recommendations for expansion as required and substantiated by Advanced Access
and other data. Work together with the Site Lead Physician and Functional Managers
with planning and implementing medical services, and many more.
Like a majority of jobs you would need a Bachelors Degree in Business, Nursing,
Health Administration or any other health related fields preferred. As well as a minimum
of 3 years experience as a clinic manager/administrator in a private or public sector
medical clinic. Its unknown whether a different certification is required for the job.

In order to be a Health Educator or Clinic Administrator a Bachelors of health is
needed. Another thing I noticed that a majority of companies require being a Certified
Health Education Specialist. As well as a year or more of experience. It would be wise
to start volunteering and working as an intern to gain the experience needed. Also I
never knew how important it is to be a health educator until this year. Reading the many
requirements for these jobs suggest that one must be well educated, and keep up with
the publics health. I was also surprised to see all the responsibilities that a health
educator has. How all of them have in a waydifferent requirements, and
responsibilities but at the same time, all have the same goal, to ensure that the public
remains safe and in good health.
