During this unit I felt as though the students were able to meet the learning objectives
that were set for the week. At the end of the week students were able to recite and recognize the
COTS for the softball throw, fielding, and batting. Because I didnt set the goals so high for the
psychomotor objectives, I felt as though they accomplished the goals that were set for them.

They were not perfect, however, they learned a lot. Just as last week, I did not reach my goal of
fifty percent MVPA.
Creating a Quality Learning Environment:
I felt as though my students actively participated in the lesson that was taught this week
which allowed them to meet the four learning criteria. During the instant activity we played a
game of hot potato which helped them warm up their arms and start working on the COTS that
would be needed throughout the lesson. This activity allowed all students to communicate and
work as a team player. During the core activity, students were placed with a partner depending on
where they stood on the modified softball field. Students spend an ample amount of time
working on catching and throwing a softball before going into game play. As for games play my
students were actively involved in the game. They were able to continue practicing catching and
throwing the ball which having to run the bases. However, I was not able to reach my MVPA
goal. My students were only active about twelve minutes during the thirty minute class period. I
have come to the conclusion that my introductions are too long. I seem to get wrapped up in
explaining the activity leaving very few minutes for the class o be actively engaged.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Before the start of the lesson, all students were seated on the white base line. I provided
the class with full detailed instructions. I tried to make them as clear as possible, but the
instructions seem to be a little long. I also provided the class with visual and verbal COTS that
were demonstrated by the teacher, evaluating team member and a student. Before the unit began
I placed the equipment where the students where to be placed during the activity. During this
lesson I felt as though I was very active with the class, I felt as though I moved around the

activity area as much as possible while providing feedback to individuals and groups of students.
I tried to keep them motivated and encourage them while they were being active and reinforcing
the COTS which were the main focus. At the end of the lesson all students were directed to pick
up all equipment and place it neatly in the equipment bag. For those that were not following
direction were called out and was given a warning.
Recommendations:
For next weeks lesson, I will try to remember to call students by their names. This has
been a difficult task for me this semester. With track being our lesson for next week, I will try to
find a way to keep the students motivated, because not everyone likes to run as much as I do. I
will also continue trying to reach my MVPA goal which is very important. I will also try to be
more actively involved with my class. Hopefully this will keep them motivated and ready to run.
